The Black Country Living Museum 2020!
On Sunday, Phab had an amazing day visiting The Black Country Living Museum where we took a step back in time to explore one of the very first industrialised landscapes in Britain.
During the day we had the chance to experience a historic 1912 school lesson, and it’s safe to say things were a lot different back then! We explored the old town, where we learned first hand what it was like to live, work and shop in the 1900’s.
After lunch we set off on a boat tour of the canal tunnels under the hills that surround the museum. We watched a light show in one of the caves, found out about how the boats used to be pushed and got to see how cargo would have been carried to and from the ironworks in the area.
Next on the agenda was a mine show where we were taught all about the conditions of working within the mines, the dangers of digging for coal and also saw some crazy fire demonstrations!
However, we couldn’t return home without a last-minute trip to grab some good old-fashioned Victorian sweets from Canal Street!
Thank you to everybody that came on the trip, we hope you had a fantastic time!
