Purple Monkey Theatre, and Kandy Factory!
Sunday 25th February was a very special day for Phab Nottingham… we did not one but TWO exciting workshop sessions that Phab had never done before! We were based on the University Park campus for the day, and we couldn’t wait to get acting, performing and decorating!
We started the day by getting theatrical with the Purple Monkey Theatre Company. We introduced ourselves and warmed up our inner movie stars with some drama games, which we all found very amusing! After some preparation, we got creative and made our own group drama performances with themes like ‘Under the Sea’ and ‘Jungle’. The groups were then even brave enough to perform in front of everyone else at the end of the workshop! We were super-duper impressed with everyone’s amazing acting skills, and it was lovely to see everyone working together to create such wonderful performances. It was a great start to the day, and the fun did not end there…
The afternoon was also full of exciting and creative tasks, but of a very different kind! The Kandy Factory came to campus bearing all kinds of confectionery for us to make and decorate, so that we could take home some tasty, funky treats at the end of the day. We put on our aprons and hair nets, then listened very carefully for our instructions! Using a medley of things like melted chocolate, Rice Krispies, Oreo’s and edible eyes, we made delicious chocolatey spiders, cakes and googly-eyed mini Swiss rolls. The temptation to have a taste before home time was almost too hard to resist!
All in all, it was such an amazing day and definitely one to remember. We would like to thank everyone who took part and helped to make it such a special Phab event, and we hope you had as much fun as we did!
